It is known to make various components out of metal parts, such as, for example, parts for engine bodies or parts for transmissions. It is often necessary to produce surfaces on such components, for example in order to obtain a desired surface topography. Such a surface topography may be a tooth profile, which, for example, should be obtained on a camshaft. It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a method for producing a metal part, which overcomes the above-mentioned disadvantages of the heretofore-known devices and methods of this general type and which is cost-effective to produce. With the foregoing and other objects in view there is provided, in accordance with the invention, a method for producing a metal part, the method includes the steps of: (a) providing at least one metal blank having an outer surface with a first surface topography and a first region having a second surface topography different from the first surface topography of the first region; (b) applying a first coating of a first coating compound to the first region of the outer surface of the metal blank; and (c) applying a second coating of a second coating compound to the first region of the outer surface of the metal blank, the second coating compound having a second surface topography different from the second surface topography of the first region. In other words, the object of the invention is achieved by a method for producing a metal part. At least one metal blank has an outer surface with a first surface topography and a first region has a second surface topography different from the first surface topography of the first region. The first region is coated with a first coating compound. A second coating compound is applied to the first region. The metal part can thus be produced in a simple way with the metal part having different regions with a different surface topography. This results in a functional metal part having a particularly functional surface topography.
